Our doctors only see patients by referral from your family physician or specialist. All consultations are covered by the Medical Services Plan.

Dr Paul Herselman

Dr Herselman received his medical degree from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. He immigrated to Canada in 1994, obtaining certification in Family Medicine(CCFP) in 2000 and Specialty certification in Emergency Medicine(CCFP-EM) in 2001. Dr Herselman practiced as an Emergency physician for 17 years, eventually serving as Chief of Emergency Medicine. He was also the Medical Director of St Joseph’s General Hospital, Comox, British Columbia before embarking on a career change.
Dr Herselman subsequently completed postgraduate diplomas in Dermatology with Queen Mary University of London, UK, and the Australian Institute of Dermatology, Queensland Australia, both with distinction. He also holds several certificates in Dermoscopy, Skin cancer surgery etc. He has been providing a General Practice consultancy service in Skin Disorders since 2017 and wants to be clear that he is not a FRCP Dermatologist. |
Dr Louis Huisamen

Dr Huisamen earned his medical degree from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa in 1991. He immigrated to Canada in 1995, obtaining certification in Family Medicine (CCFP) in 2000 and Specialty certification in Emergency Medicine (EM) in 2001. Dr Huisamen has practiced Emergency- and Critical Care Medicine in Regina and the Comox Valley for the last 20 years+, and has served as Chief of Emergency Medicine twice in his career.
He has expanded his education and training in the field of skin disorders through the Australian Institute of Dermatology and Queen Mary University of London, UK, obtaining his post graduate diploma in Dermatology with distinction. He has continued to expand his professional knowledge and skills through courses in Dermoscopy and skin cancer. Dr Huisamen will continue to offer General Practice consultant services in Skin Disorders to clients in both Qualicum Beach and Courtenay. |

Lisa has an extensive background in Customer Service and has always had a passion for health care. After living in England for 8 years, she embarked on a career change and became an Licensed Practical Nurse in 2010.
She has worked in private home care, long-term care and had a full mobile nursing Footcare practice prior to taking on the role of Office Manager/LPN for Dr Herselman and Dr Huisamen. |
